/dev/modem is linked to /dev/cua1 on my RHL5.0. Regular
users couldn't use it tho root could. I changed the perms
from 640 to 666 on /dev/cua1. Also had to change perms
on /var/lock from 775 to 777.
Now my regular user can use a cron script to use kermit to
dialout to a home fone for a wakeup call, and disconnect
after 2 rings before anybody answers, saving toll charges.
