Since upgrading to XFree86 3.3.2 I have a couple unexpected changes in
the behavior of nxterm. First some background.

RH5.0
XFree86 3.3.2
fvwm2

Problems in nxterm

1) The scroll bar on the left of the window is no longer solid gray but
only a gray outline. xterm is still the solid gray rectangle. How can I
modify this appearance?

2) If I use less or more to page through a file, the first time I hit
<space> to advance a page the text on the screen goes to reverse video as
if highlighted. All text in this window from then on is reverse video and
I have to close the window. xterm does not show this behavior.

Since xterm seems to work as desired, what would I lose by changing my
default terminal to xterm? Why does the Red Hat default to nxterm? Has
anyone else seen this happen? Following the trail of how things get set up
when one does a startx is rather confusing. Any advice is appreciated.
