I can't find the bug report email address _anywhere_ on the RH home
page, so I'm just going to post it here and hope someone at RedHat takes
notice.
OK, if you attempt to do an NFS install off of another RH 5 box the
client install program fails because of an authentication error with the
server - *ALWAYS*! I spent over an hour and a half playing with this
before giving up and successfully installing via FTP... I'm pretty sure
the reason is that the RH 5.1 client program is sending a bogus hostname
to portmap and mountd on the server. portmap fails the mount request
because tcpd is compiled with -DPARANOID which causes portmap to fail all
requests coming from hosts which present hostname/IP Address
inconsistancies. I've tried just about everything i can in /etc/exports
and /etc/hosts.allow to no avail.... I'm installing from local boxen
within my network so I have complete access to all of these systems.
If you see this and happen to know the correct bug report address will
you forward it on the the RH team? Thanks! Also, if you succeeded at
doing an NFS install from another RH5 box, or another UNIX using the same
tcpd conpiletime options, let me know how you did it... huh?
TIA!
