I would make a priority of security fixes to network services, imcluding bind.

Rules of thumb  are:
    if you don't use it you don't need to update it
    if it works (and has no security problems) you don't need to update it

As far as one fix depending on others is concerned, the package program
rpm will tell you what you need in addition to the current software.
