Hi,
I've already sent a mail concerning backups with the dump command on a DAT, (dump 0sf
61000 /dev/st0 /) and asked how to restore the datas. I know that i have to
use the restore command, but i can't restore. Now my HDD has crashed and i
need to restore the whole sytem from a backup. In fact i have reinstalled
RH5 on a new HDD and i need to restore my old config. I can see the datas on the
DAT, i can ls on the dat, but when using the interractive mode i'm stopped
when i ask for example to extract the passwd file, it says : specify next
volume #: there i don't know what to answer.
I would just like to extract some of the files (or all of them if necessary)
such as passwd group ... (could someone tell me which files i need to
restore : i know i need passwd, group, sendmail.cf but what else ?)
in a specific directory and then copy them in the right directory.
I have spent hours trying to work on this with the man and it still doesn't
work.

Moreover i had (and still have) problems to reconfigure my network. We have
our own domain but we off course need a DNS (not sure i'm clear enough). In
fact it looks as if the network works ok for about 1 hour and then is quite
unreachable except with http (as i've changed my 3com 3C509 for a 3c905
(that has been detected ok during install) maybe it comes from there. In
fact my question is : which files do i need to check to configure the
network ( i know there is resolv.conf but which others ?)

I really need help.

Thanks for your time

    JY
