Thanos,
Ah, thanks for that information. It all makes sense now. This is what
happened:
- You deleted these files on the source.
- On the next backup, rdiff-backup noticed they were deleted and tried
to compress them and move them into the rdiff-backup-data/increments/
directory to preserve them in case you later wanted to restore them
from your backup.
- For many (all?) files in that directory, the above process failed
because doing so would have created filenames which were too long. The
original files on the destination were left in place.
- As a result, the directory was not empty when rdiff-backup went to
remove it. This generated a Windows-specific error code which your Mac
did not understand, crashing rdiff-backup.
In your case, you can solve this problem directly by deleting the same
directory on the destination. I'll look into some ways to handle this
situation in the future.
best,
Andrew

There are 8198 files in there. This is one of those "package files"
on the mac, which shows as one file on the UI, but is really a
folder in the file system.
The files are about 1kb each and named along those lines:
FFE3C2B3-
FC07
-4DDA-9500-31D1003DC947;058BE0623F8-7B8D-49F1-9093-22DD006E6021.xml
... and last there is a 46kb file (probably the index)
root=57CD3699-9705-4863-99A7-3589123A3386;058CD9CA304-BA33-4DEF-
B596-0D09FD26F190.xml
Note, that since this was barfing on the long filenames a few days
ago, and I didn't really need the file at the source, I have deleted
it at the source (only).

Ah, ok. Those are very helpful, thank you.
What are the contents of this directory?
z:\\LuciferBackup/Documents/OmniFocus Backups/OmniFocus Backup
before Upgrading 2008-11-01 184020.ofocus-backup
There's something in there (the files may be hidden)
thanks,
Andrew
