Dear list members,

allow me to briefly draw your attention towards the latest release of the 'gimms' package (gimms-1.0.0). Quite some time has passed since the last update, but now that version 1 of the AVHRR-based GIMMS NDVI record (NDVI3g.v1; until end 2015) has been made available, some adjustments were overdue. Among those are (taken from the NEWS file):

* Added support for the recently released NDVI3g.v1 to all package functions. * Included local file inventories for all available GIMMS products (NDVI3g.v0
  and NDVI3g.v1) and their respective servers (ECOCAST, NASANEX).
* Quality control has been added to rasterizeGimms() through specifying
  permitted flag values ('keep'), rendering the subsequent application of a
  separate function unnecessary. For reasons of convenience, however,
  qualityControl() is still available.
* rasterizeGimms() now includes an extent argument ('ext') to enable clipping
  based on raster::crop().
* Scaling and the rejection of water and nodata-mask values are no longer
  optional.
* If 'timestamp = TRUE', monthlyIndices() now returns an object of class 'Date'
  (instead of 'character') and '...' is no longer available.

In addition, the accompanying GitBook has been updated which provides a rather quick-and-dirty introduction to the subject. It is reachable via https://www.gitbook.com/book/envin-marburg/introducing-the-r-gimms-package/details.

Feedback and suggestions are always welcome, and feature requests and/or bug reports should be filed at https://github.com/environmentalinformatics-marburg/gimms.

Best,
Florian
