I've had some private messages with Wayne; here's some info and a question in case someone else wants to follow this up:

- I can install his new version of loon on Ubuntu without a problem, but my R build uses tcl/tk 8.6. - I haven't built tcl/tk 9.0.1, and like Wayne, would like to avoid that. Is there a Github action that would install it?

Hello

I am at my wit’s end trying to get the loon package to NOT generate an error
under the various unix OS’s (Debian etc.).
It passes on Mac and on Windows.

Loon depends on Tcl/Tk (and much of it is implemented in Tcl/Tk).

As I understand it, the problem appears to be that package testing under Unix
uses an R built with Tcl/Tk version 9.0.1
Loon use to require Tcl 8.6. (the version bundled in R distribution).

I think I have excised the version number 8.6 everywhere in the package and am
only asking that the version >= 8.6.
Nevertheless, the package cannot be installed under unix without error.

I’m hoping that someone has had a similar experience with an R package that
uses tcl/tk and might have some suggestions that will save me some time.
(I am trying to avoid at this time building R from source with Tcl/Tk version
9.0.1 instead of the 8.6 bundled in distribution, Will if I must … though a
new experience for me.)

Any help, suggestions, etc. would be appreciated.

The automatic message produced from testing the package appears at the end of
this message.
Note that the errors appearing in the “released” 1.4.2 loon are the ones I am
trying to address with the changes I have made in 1.4.3.
If anyone feels the need to examine the current source, it is presently only
available on my github (a fork of the released)
https://github.com/rwoldford/loon

Thanks in advance
