This was a bug in R-devel for few days that has been fixed this morning.

I'm trying to submit a package and I get an odd error when I run R CMD check

I'm only running one R instance at a time
If it helps:

I have run both several times and both persist in seeing (R-devel) or not
seeing (R-3.4.0) the error.
I have also tried deleting the .Rcheck folder and starting fresh, same results.
