Have a look at the ggplot2 package. You will find a lot of examples at http://had.co.nz/ggplot2/
library(ggplot2) dataset <- data.frame(x = seq(-1, 1, length = 101)) dataset$y <- dataset$x + dataset$x^2 dataset$z <- 10 * dataset$x + 1 ggplot(dataset, aes(x = x, y = y, colour = z)) + geom_point() ggplot(dataset, aes(x = x, y = y, colour = z)) + geom_line() ggplot(dataset, aes(x = x, y = y, colour = z)) + geom_line(size = 2) + scale_colour_gradient2(low = "blue", mid = "yellow", high = "red", breaks = seq(-9, 11, by = 1)) HTH, Thierry ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ir. I'm not experienced very experienced with R and i'm looking for a way doing plots like in this example http://www.mathworks.de/matlabcentral/fx_files/23566/2/color_line3.png, which basically it is a 2d plot in which the 3rd dimension (variable) is color coded. I have only seen elsewhere that it is possible to color code dots in a scatter plot and I tried it with success although I I didn't find a way of including the color bar has legend to the plot. I wonder if any one can give me some hint on this. Thank you!
