It probably depends on the mini, but it seems to work okay on my HP 1030nr with XP home (1.6 ghz intel atom, 1GB RAM, 16GB SSD). If I am working with larger datasets, I usually use my desktop. A lot of people like to use Linux on minis because it is often faster. If you are interested/concerned, I can run tests and gives you the times for something specific. Otherwise, I will just say that I have been happy with it.
