How do I output the number to the left of "." to variable X and the two numbers to the right of "." to variable Y? FICB[,"x"] <- substr(FICB[,"temp2"],1,1) Works, but FICB[,"y"] <- substr(FICB[,"temp2"],3,2) only returns "". temp is class character. ______________________________________________ R-help@r-project.org mailing list https://stat.ethz.ch/mailman/listinfo/r-help PLEASE do read the posting guide http://www.R-project.org/posting-guide.html and provide commented, minimal, self-contained, reproducible code.
