Ummm...  not for me (R-2.8.1 on WinXP)

Often plot labels can be missing or truncated simply because there is not enough
room for them.  If you are using windows, what happens if you drag the corner of
the plot window to make it bigger?  I can make the plot lose half of its "8"
label by reducing the vertical dimension of the plot window.
