I agree with the second link that it is difficult depending on the data to do justice with a 3-D plot using a bar pot. The point of the plot is not to present the full quantitative picture, but just one piece of it. If there is something that produces a little bit better graphics than those from the scatterplot approach that would be great. It would be great if I could do a "surf" plot from the data, but unfortunately a lot of it is discrete, e.g. location. I guess this may just not be possible, but just thought I would check.
