Dear Frieda, I'm afraid that I completely misunderstood your question. I was unfamiliar with the BiodiversityR package and thought that you were writing an Rcmdr plug-in for it.
Actually, I see that BiodiversityR uses the Rcmdr interface, but isn't written as a standard plug-in. Instead, it apparently manipulates the Rcmdr menu file directly. This is inadvisable, and I suspect that package is simply incompatible with the current version of the Rcmdr package. I suggest that you contact the package maintainer, who might choose to rewrite the package as a plug-in.
