Although I don't quite understand how it works - it would be nice to see a step-by-step explanation of what is getting substituted and evaluated in which environment. I guess 'eval.parent' must do its own substituting, just so that it can see the variables you pass to it, before it actually evaluates its argument. But 'eval' is .Internal... Maybe if this is less of a mystery to someone else ...
