I only guess, but this message may hint to the cause:
[Previously saved workspace restored] R automatically starts some .RData files with images of the workspaces you used before. Try to start R with the --no-restore argument (R --no-restore in the command line or added to the properties of the symbol you click to start R in the Windows case). Perhaps this solves the issue.
