Hi Peter, I had this same problem, but only when using Rmpi interactively. My scripts work when run in batch mode, following the examples at http://math.acadiau.ca/ACMMaC/Rmpi/ . Since this message is old, you may have discovered this already. Nevertheless, if others have the same problem, knowing this may help them.
