brackets {} aren't strictly required for a one liner.
if(variable1.fac == 1 & variable2.num == 0) {variable3 = 3}         # 
brackets {} aren't strictly required for a one liner.
if(variable1.fac == 1 & variable2.num >= 1) {variable3 = 4}         # 
brackets {} aren't strictly required for a one liner.
