Using FC6, it works as it says, except that I don't have to switch to the firefox window: it does that in about 1 second (and in a new tab). That's if I use firefox as the browser: if I use konqueror, it DOES start a new instance contrary to the message. My guess is that it has to do with your window manager's settings. There are many permutations that could be different from mine.
