The only statistical method that I know of that can be applied to any dataset 
without further definition of the nature of the data or the question being 
asked is SnowsCorrectlySizedButOtherwiseUselessTestOfAnything which is found in 
the TeachingDemos package for R.  However this test is not common (for a couple 
of very good reasons).

If you want a more useful method you first need to decide on what your question 
is that you want answered and have some more detail about the dataset.
