Dear all, Sandy Weisberg and I would like to announce version 2.0-0 of the car package, now on CRAN. We've released this major revision of the package in anticipation of the publication of An R Companion to Applied Regression, Second Edition (Sage, in press), co-authored by us, which should be available before the end of the year.
The new version of the car package has a number of new functions and data sets, along with many changes to old functions, including a change in naming conventions, using "camel-case" rather than period-separated names: for example, av.plots() is now avPlots(). For the time-being, old function names, such as av.plots(), are available as deprecated aliases. A few functions from the alr3 package have also been rewritten, renamed, and are now part of car. The alr3 package will be updated later in the year.
