Did you try a build of the provided alpha, beta and rc releases made available to allow you to ensure that the released version would build and perform as expected? FWIW the new 3.6.3 made ~ 12 hours ago are already available for Debian, built for the Ubuntu backports at CRAN (thanks to Michael) and also in the base Rocker container behaves as expected (and as the one RC build did): edd@rob:~$ docker run --rm -ti rocker/r-base R version 3.6.3 (2020-02-29) -- "Holding the Windsock" Copyright (C) 2020 The R Foundation for Statistical Computing Platform: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu (64-bit) R is free software and comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY.
