I tried to look for solutions but couldn't find any. Any directions in
deducing this error would be highly welcome.

You will need to describe your OS and which version of R you are using, but it looks as if you have environment variables describing your locale (probably LC_CTYPE or LANG) which are not recognized by the C runtime library.
