Currently, the following attachment MIME types are accepted for R-devel {R-help has less}: text/plain text/x-diff text/x-patch application/pgp-signature application/postscript application/pdf application/x-tar application/x-compressed-tar application/x-gzip image/png message/rfc822 However, many mailers just send application/octet-stream which means ``unspecified binary'' and which has often been used for sending viruses etc. Further note, that I've not allowed the common jpg and gif image types on purpose, since they are the ones spammers have been using for a while now.
