I see it on Linux too. It's a serious programming error in that something has its PROTECT/UNPROTECT mechanism messed up. Fortunately, it is protecting too much, which is not usually fatal. Also, it appears to happen only in the all z equal case (the value 3e10 is not magic - any nonzero z will do).
