[Moved to a more appropriate list.] This is a problem with your f2c. R-2.2.1 (of which you used a beta from more than a month ago) has been compiled using f2c, and I just checked that my f2c (compiled from the current netlib sources) does not produce anything like that or near on line 296.
Why not use a real Fortran compiler? (Your gcc is rather old, as well.)
