I seem to have managed to get this working. A note for anyone who has a similar issue, my 'blank screen' that it got stuck at.. Well I decided to just leavge it and walk away, and when I came back I had the Qubes install screen.. Lesson learnt, when there is no error message, it might be worth waiting and see if it comes through.
Once in, the screen resolution was set at 'default', but an update to the latest kernel and a reboot sorted that and now I am up and running.
