I have not had an accident during the day for over three years, and I only have
had one night time I accident when I had diarrhea. Bowel care normally only
takes about 10 to 15 minutes daily. I have an overhead lift which sits me on
the commode chair. Since I am a C4 I have no upper body balance so the sling
holds me up right. It took me several months of experimenting to find what
works for me. I'm 78 and most people of my age are having digestive and bowel
problems anyway, so I am very happy with my routine.

Did you only do bowel care in morning and had no accidents? I do every other
morning.
Did you sit on toilet or Hoyer lift every morning?
I was thinking of sitting on commode chair all day , the prep day since I am to
drink Gatorade mirlax and ducolox all day. That has to go through your
digestive system

I have had three colonoscopies I cut back on bulky foods seven days before, go
to liquid soups etc four days before and two days before just clear liquids.
Cleaning out went quite easily, luckily I have an overhead lift, and I just got
comfortable on the commode chair with the lift holding me in place for about 90
minutes. Did dig stim in the am and had the procedure done at 11:00 AM. Did
not check into the hospital until 90 minutes before the procedure. Easy peasy
and no problems. Good luck. By the way, we do bowel care every day first
thing in the morning.Joan

blood during bowel movement.

Any advice how to prep & AD concerns?

I am a Quadriplegic and when I go number two, it involves digital stimulation.
Some how my caregiver accidentally irritated the lining causing it to bleed
when I go. It has been going on for a week. We don't know what to do about it.
It has never happened before. I have always done my bowel route with digital
stimulation and removal.

does anyone have ideas how to deal with the irritation and bleeding?
