That method has never existed AFAIK. Maybe you're thinking of the 
reverse() method on lists?

In any case, the you can reverse strings in a couple of ways:

  >>> ''.join(reversed('foo'))
  'oof'
  >>> 'foo'[::-1]
  'oof'
