Sure - but I see this as the same case as "the file got renamed". If you have a LRU list in your app, and a file gets renamed, then the LRU list breaks (unless you also store the inode number in the LRU list, and lookup the file by inode number - or object UUID on NTFS, possibly using distributed link tracking).
