I just tried compiling the latest snapshot against qt4 with the qt4 build option "-no-openssl" set, and I couldn't configure pyqt4. It errored out with this:
Generating the C++ source for the QtNetwork module... sip: QSsl::SslProtocol is undefined Error: Unable to create the C++ code.
