Nah, I don't buy that. Anyone who thinks that
foo.emit(PYSIGNAL('ugh'), ('maggots', 'worms'))
is a sharper marketing move than
foo.emit('yum', 'pleasant', 'thoughts')
has a case of severely interesting perspective.
I suspect the real reason behind what oddities there are in the current
API is that it was harder to do what my wee wrapper does back in the
golden days of Python 1.5.x, and the API has, understandably enough,
remained backwards compatible ever since.
