Well, if you want to make an application that works on multiple platforms and does not need 100 libraries to be installed, then you make it pure GTK. I have been pro-GNOME for a long time even though I don't use the GNOME desktop. However, lately Gnome has introduced several annoyance and unfortunately seem to be design by a corporate committee. I don't like Windows at all but it saddens me to see that Gnome is starting to include many of the same annoyances.
