I would recommend that you use the latest stable edition to make your
life happier (afterall that's why Python and PyGTK exists). Anyways, you
can look at the reference of pixbuf_new_from_file_at_size and see that
you can manually create a pixbuf and set it to the image (see gtk.Image
in reference)

gtk.gdk.pixbuf_new_from_file_at_size()

gtk.Image.set_from_pixbuf()
