It's useful to know what to avoid, but it's more helpful to know what to
get instead.
I looked on the mailing list for posts with subjects that included the
word "recommend" and searched the wiki for the word "recommend" and I
found nothing aimed at listing what sound hardware we should use.
I'd prefer:
- cards we can buy today, not just audio chipsets found in
laptops/mainboards that require replacing the entire system (or mainboard).
- hardware that would work with free software drivers and not require
binary blobs because I run PulseAudio on a completely free system where
I endeavor to avoid all proprietary software.
