Thanks for the reply.

I've - thanks to i-garrison on irc - found out one of my loopbacks was muted. I 
missed this over and over and over again in trying all kinds of weird 
permutations of the above.

It works now ;) not perfect, but it works for what I want it - which is piano 
classes ;)
