They are certainly not illustrative. They are the only way to find out
what you need to implement. You MUST follow the algorithm. Not copy it
step for step.
You must have a different definition of "follow the algorithm" than I've seen in
the past...
It sounds like you want to say something like "MUST follow an algorithm which
produces results that are identical to the following algorithm" or something
along those lines.
