I mananged to install synaptic but my GUI's are still freezing up in the dependencies phase. I don't know how to run them from the terminal to look for errors. There was a fix %__ ? ___ other but I lost the url and didn't know which directory to run it from.
I'm trying to detect my scanner at the usb and or via my firewire card. A friend had suggested I try modprobe. Again I'm not familiar with how to run something from the command line.
