Frank,
You're not looking for a "solution in code"...you need a service
provider that will let you send -much- email through an account.
I have been using Hurricane Electric (he.com) for nearly 10 years to
send between 10,000 and 12,000 emails every month. (I wrote a VFP app
that does so, taking around 4 hours to send them all.)
Basically, if you sign up for their basic "legacy hosting" accounts, it
will run you $25/mo and they will provide you with the SMTP server info
for sending your outbound email through. I found them to be very
professional, very helpful, and they have MORE than enough muscle and
horsepower to handle your load.
The one potential problem you may run into is when recipients, either on
purpose or by mistake, report your emails as spam. Hurricane Electric
takes that very seriously and they will shut your service off in a
heartbeat if they suspect you're up to no good. Again, though, they are
very reasonable and professional and if there is any misunderstanding
I've always found them to be extremely interested in "my side" of the
story. In addition to being able to send your emails out through their
servers, you could use the space in your account to host files...whether
graphics or downloadable files, or streaming audio or video. The monthly
throughput limit is generous, but be careful not to go over or it gets
expensive very quick.
My emails were around 20k each, and sending 11,500 each month never got
me over half of the "monthly throughput allowance," so it's not as
draconian as it might sound.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I have a client who is a courier. Their customers order items in the
US which get shipped to an address in the US and then my client brings
the packages here to Trinidad, clears them through customs and
delivers them to their customers.
My system sends out emails when the packages arrive to notify their
customers of what has arrived. Later it will send emails notifying
them of what charges are being applied to the delivery. This could
amount to 4,000 emails per day.
Every once in a while my client wants to send out a standard email to
all active customers (a bit less than 10,000 email addresses), for
example the current one is telling the customers the opening hours
over the Christmas period.
They have currently been using 5 google email addresses and SMTP to
send the emails out but we are now hitting Google's limits. I've added
on another 10 emails but we are still having emails being blocked and
getting a message that the daily sending quota has been exceeded.
Can anyone recommend a relatively cheap email service that will allow
me to do this? Currently I use smtp to send the emails, but I guess I
can use whatever is needed.
