Is there any way to reject mails from domains with useless MX records?
I assume you mean to say that *ALL* the MX records would have to be
"useless"
Actually, I didn't think it this far since the wave of crap I've been
dealing with comes from domains that only have one single MX record,
which is "useless".
I want to reject cases where the MX records themselves are syntactically
valid, but the name they point to doesn't have any A or AAAA records.
I am sceptical that this is a particularly effective way to stop
unwanted email.
You're right, as a general purpose solution, it is probably not very
"cost-effective".
I was wondering why reject_unknown_sender_domain didn't already
implement those checks, but now with your explanations it makes sense.
And writing a policy service specifically for this use case seems a bit
overkill, since those messages do end up being filtered by an antispam
milter based on their content.
Thank you.
Antonin
