A quick update: The variables and all references to CONFIGURE_SHARED, NO_SHARED_ARCHS, and NO_SHARED_LIBS have been eliminated, as well as "no_shared" in PROPERTIES.
There are about a hundred PFRAG.shared files left. Committers are invited to clean up the ports they maintain. The SHARED_ONLY variable is a bit of a tangle. I'll start pulling a few threads soon.
