Tcl-style man pages use a bit of roff that mandoc doesn't do. In some cases the difference is significant. In this case it seems passable, so I'll take out USE_GROFF*. Thanks, Stu *Bleh. mandoc, USE_GROFF and years of -pthread/-lpthread nonsense ... eff you, obsd! ;-)
