Sorry for delay. I've upgraded system and package [Firefox 24.0 now]. I've modified about:config as you advised and added the option and path as you asked in the previous email. Still does not work i'm afraid. For now, i've just disabled spell checking. Let me know if there's anything else you want me to test.
