hello all,

I just rebuilt my print server from a clean install of 5.3/i386
snapshot 31 March, and now it appears to be unable to see my locally
connected printer (Samsung CLP-500) on the usb interface.

All was working fine previously with cups 1.5.3p5 from 5.2 release
(although ghostscript needed a patch), and of course I have disabled
ulpt in the kernel and chowned the usb devices to _cups.

I can see from the CVS log that patch-backend_usb-libusb_c was removed
as part of the update to cups 1.6.2, but I wonder whether a small
remnant of it is still needed to patch the check for the "usblp"
kernel module. When I manually run cups/backend/usb, I get:

:r cups_backend_usb
DEBUG: list_devices
DEBUG: libusb_get_device_list=3
DEBUG: Failed to check whether 04e8:3248 has the "usblp" kernel module attached

I've only just started looking into this, so apologies if it's a fault
on my side.

Martin
