Sorry, I'm not experienced much in the OpenBSD porting details. I'm just
coder. I use C/C++, imake, make, awk, svn to make this update. I wanted to
inform that OpenBSD xlife-5.3 is not updated since 1998. It contains a lot of
bugs and is completely forgotten even by its previous developer (ESR). I can
fill forms, do other minor tasks. BTW xlife-6.5.x has only 3-4 dependencies:
X11 (Xau, Xdmcp, Xext not required), c, stdc++, and m (mathlib is required only
for X11R7 as with NetBSD). However I don't know how to make diffs using RCS. :-(
I've made contacts with Achim Flammenkamp and Eric S. Raymond (ESR). I am
preparing Xlife wikipage now. There are plans to develop Xlife. ESR is going
to participate Xlife development.
Xlife-6.5.x has all DECLARED functionality of xlife-5.3 and many new features
(n-state automata, colour manipulation, io widget, bounded grid, history, ...).
 xlife-6.x.y is based on http://packages.qa.debian.org/x/xlife.html
xlife-6.x.y's main collection of patterns are situated separated from the
sources. It is also at <http://litwr2.atspace.eu/xlife.php>
A lot of patterns are the same as at xlife-5.3
