Hi,

While troubleshooting a potential issue with another jabber client, I
found this sitting around in an old tree; I recall a few people had
stabs at this long ago, but here's something updated that seems to work
(for me).  I've only tested against talk.google, but other xmpp tests
would be appreciated, along with a review of the port of course.

irssi-xmpp is an irssi plugin to connect to a jabber network.  Its aim
is to provide a good integration in this text-based irc client and a
good support of XMPP (the Jabber protocol).

Its main features are:
    o Sending and receiving messages in irssi's query windows
    o A roster with contact & resource tracking (contact list)
    o Contact management (add, remove, manage subscriptions)
    o MUC (Multi-User Chat)
    o Tab completion of commands, JIDs and resources
    o Message Events ("composing")
    o Support for multiple accounts
    o Unicode support (UTF-8)
    o StartTLS, SSL (deprecated) and HTTP proxy support
