I would like to have the fixes, and am happy with samba itself, but... One of the major reasons for being careful at this time is that if we were to change something which accidentally broke other parts of the tree, there may well not be time to fix things. I haven't worked out the complete dependency tree but any problem here would have a knock-on effect with GNOME so care is definitely needed. I have not done any testing of things which depend on samba and likely won't be able to do this in time so my current thinking is we're safer to wait for unlock (at which point it could also go into -stable).
