audio software usually needs some changes to make it work anyway,
take a look at the patches, it's often not straightforward.
converting to a clean API with good documentation, like sndio,
can be a lot more straightforward than fixing things to work
with our audio(4) or even making the changes to work with
ossaudio emulation.

and don't forget a lot of this type of software uses some library
for audio i/o, most of which have already been converted to use sndio.

in short, I don't think this is a problem.
