At least maybe patch could be provided in patches/ directory rather than integrated in the downloaded source. Maybe it could help to debug. Also it seems that freebsd port have made a lot of progress in it. I would like to try it but it would help to have the changes made for openbsd to not reinvent the wheel. - benoit
